RoundTrip SEO Keyword Strategy

Status: Homepage implementation complete. Dedicated trade pages and blog content are the next phase, not yet started. Scope: roundtrips.app only — the RoundTrip product marketing site. Does not cover traxsgroup.com, which serves a different purpose (parent company, not product-specific) and would need its own separate keyword pass if we want to optimize it later.

This explains the reasoning behind the keyword choices, not just the final list — so future tweaks can follow the same logic rather than needing to be re-explained each time.

The core problem with going after the obvious terms

Terms like "Field Service Management Software" are exactly what ServiceTitan, Housecall Pro, and Jobber already dominate — dedicated comparison pages, analyst ratings, years of content investment. A brand-new site with no backlinks and no customers yet realistically isn't ranking for these anytime soon. We're keeping them present on the site (they're the honest category name), but not treating them as what we're actually trying to win on.

The real opportunity is trade-specific terms — "HVAC dispatch software," "plumbing service software," and similar. Much less competition, and the buyer intent is close to perfect: almost nobody searches "HVAC dispatch software" who isn't exactly our customer.

What's live now — homepage (roundtrips.app)

Title tag: RoundTrip | Field Service Management Software for HVAC, Plumbing & Electrical

Meta description: RoundTrip is field service management software built for HVAC, plumbing, and electrical businesses. Technician scheduling, dispatch, and digital work orders in one place — from the first call to the final invoice.

H1 unchanged: "Run more jobs. Get paid faster. Less chaos." — this is doing its job well as a human-facing headline; keyword work happens in the supporting copy underneath it, not the hero line.

Body copy targets (woven into the features/description section): Technician Scheduling, Digital Work Orders, Service Business Software, Field Operations Software.

From the original list — what we kept, what we cut, and why

Kept and prioritized

Technician Scheduling, Digital Work Orders, Service Business Software, Field Operations Software, and most of the long-tail phrases ("software for field service companies," "scheduling software for service businesses," "field operations software for small business"). Good balance of specificity and realistic ranking potential.

Kept, but as supporting mentions rather than primary targets

Field Service Management Software, Work Order Management Software, Service Scheduling Software, Dispatch Software. Too competitive to lead with, but still accurate descriptions worth having somewhere on the site for legitimacy.

Cut

Operations Management Software, Workflow Management Software, Business Process Automation, Productivity Software, Business Workflow, Operational Efficiency, Team Coordination, Operations Software for Growing Companies. These are broad enough that they pull in searchers looking for completely unrelated tools (Zapier, Notion, generic project management) — even if we could rank for them, they wouldn't bring the right visitor. Route Planning was also cut specifically because it gets swallowed by the much bigger logistics/delivery route-planning market (think UPS/FedEx-style tools), which has nothing to do with field service.

Added — not in the original list, the actual highest-leverage opportunity

HVAC dispatch software, HVAC scheduling software, plumbing service software, electrical contractor software, field service software for HVAC companies, software for small plumbing companies, dispatch software for electricians. These directly match how RoundTrip is already positioned on its own homepage ("built for HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and other trades businesses") but weren't reflected in the keyword list until now.

What's next — not done yet, needs its own time

Dedicated trade pages (/hvac, /plumbing, /electrical) — each targeting that trade's specific long-tail terms, same core product messaging reframed around that trade's pain points. This is genuinely the biggest opportunity available, but it's real content work, not a quick add.

Blog content for the more specific long-tail phrases from the original list that are too narrow to anchor a whole page on their own — "simplify work order management," "automate dispatching," "improve field operations." These work well as blog post titles and compound over months of consistent publishing, but aren't urgent.

Where Robin's input would help most

  • Content for the trade-specific pages — she knows the trades audience and brand voice better than a keyword list can capture
  • Local SEO signals — business directory listings, local citations, and reviews matter a lot for trade-business searches specifically, more than for typical SaaS
  • Backlinks — any trade association contacts, local business partnerships, or press mentions that could link back to roundtrips.app help far more than on-page keyword work alone

This is expected to keep evolving as real search data comes in — treat this as the starting point, not the final word.
